Ladies Ministry

Every last Tuesday of the month at 7.30 pm in the evening a group of committed ladies meet at one of the member’s house under the leadership of Sis Chrishanthy. They take this occasion to praise and worship the Lord , launder the problems that are posing a threat to the families as well as church as a whole. With the guidance of the Holy Spirit they are able to find solutions. They have also taken up the counseling of the children and the troubled ladies. These sessions help to relieve the mental tension and make the ladies light hearted after the meetings. They also jot out the various programme for the improvement of children and their performance at school and church. They take active interest and organize the functions held by the church

Youth Club

Sis.Chrishanthy puts her heart and soul in the welfare of the youth of our church. Bethany Church of God has a vibrant and vivacious youth club. To say that the youth participate in our church activities would be a gross understatement.

The youth play music with the keyboard, drums, tabela, guitar, tambourine and the electronic pads. They practice choir and lead prayer and worship sessions. Some of them are vested with IT skills. Their skills are widely used almost in all area of our church activities. Infact our youth contribute to a large extent in the publication our quarterly magazine Vanavil. Sis. Chrishanthy is the able editor of the magazine. She is the driving force behind the publication.

Our youth are very dynamic. Their participation, in the inter cultural services of other churches, in their sports meet and  their prayer and worship services, are much appreciated by the other churches. They designate themselves the various jobs to be done in the church. Some group distribute the tracts on Saturdays, some take the responsibility of the maintenance of the church, some of them handle the food and beverages department. Matured youth handle the PCs and the accounts of the church. Still yet another group attend to the senior citizens, finally but not the least others visit the hospitals and meet the sick. They talk to them about the Word of God, pray over their sickness and give them the much needed confidence, comfort and solace.

It is gratifying to know that, in spite of their heavy work load, economic problems at home in London, economic and political problems back home in Sri Lanka, the ever increasing distractions to lure the youth in a city like London, the youth of our are doing a wonderful service to the Lord our God Jesus Christ .Praise the Lord.

Children Church

Specially tailored syllabus from the bible is selected for the children to instill the knowledge of the Word of God. However for the better understanding of the Word of God and Christianity as a whole, the children are grouped according to their age and mental prowess.

1st group consists of children of age group between 3 to 6 years.
2nd group consists of children between 6 to 9 yeas of age.
3rd group finally consists of children between 9 and 12 years of age.

Specially trained lady teachers conduct the Sunday school for the children. The classes are conducted at our Bethany Church of God premises between 2.30pm to 3.30pm. This arrangement enables the adults to attend the service in Tamil conducted in the other area without hindrance and worry about the children.

Children are also trained in music, choir practice and other cultural activities. Every year at our Christmas carol function children item is a much-sought out programmed and widely appreciated by the gathering. Once a year we hold a programme called “Kids Praise”.

Senior Citizens

They are our special guests of honor. They have toiled their entire life and now enjoy the benefits of their toil. They are in the cool of evening of life. Of course there are exceptions. Generally speaking that is what expected from every senior citizen who have effectively used their life .A small clarification needed. The effective use means what?

Does it pertain to the financial freedom, accumulation wealth? or the well being of the children. These are definitely needed and a must for every parent. But beyond the realms of the physical and worldly possessions, the spiritual side is considered to be the vital ingredient in everybody’s life. We at Bethany Church aim at giving our senior citizens the spiritual peace and comfort, a sense of togetherness and fellowship that the world cannot give.

Every month on the first Tuesday Bro.Prince Oliver, Pastor Suthesh, Bro.Paul and other volunteers reach the individual senior who is a member of our senior citizens group, and bring them by our transport to the church. The meeting starts at 10.00am. Praise and worship, prayer, singing hymns in praise of Him, bible reading, a small message with relevance to the message, discussions on various topics such as health care, nutrition, etc are conducted. The meeting ends with a sumptuous dinner. Afterwards the seniors are again dropped at their door steps. In summer time they go in and around London on a day trip in a specially arranged coach. Snacks and beverages are served in the coach. Food is served at the locations in the after noon and the coach returns in the evening. The seniors thoroughly enjoy these trips. Once in a year the able seniors are taken on trips abroad which includes 5 to 7 days and nights. Our membership at present is 105 and ever increasing. This group is a mixture of people from different faith and background, but once they come to the church they are one family. They are our big brothers and big sisters. Praise God.
